The filtration of process liquids in surface finishing is essential for flawless quality. In the face of continually rising cost pressure, economical filtration techniques with low operating costs are attracting increasing interest. With the ARF series, VENTAIX offers a concept of fully automated filtration in a closed circuit, in which operating personnel no longer come into contact with hazardous substances when cleaning the filter.
Operating Principle
The automatic filter system filters large-volume surface finishing baths on a recirculating basis. The waste products generated during the process are continuously removed from the process bath and collected in the filter vessel. The filter system is monitored by a programmable logic controller, which initiates self-cleaning by backwashing with water once maximum contamination is reached. The filter medium used for filtration is not discarded during this cleaning – only the contaminated backwash water is fed to the wastewater treatment system.
After the cleaning process, which takes only a few minutes, the system resumes filtration automatically, without any loss of electrolyte quality and without production having to be interrupted for filter cleaning. Following cleaning, the filter performance once again corresponds to that of a clean filter and therefore remains almost constant throughout the entire service life.
Cost-Effectiveness
The filter is cleaned without changing the filter medium and without operator involvement. This reduces the operating costs of the filter system to a minimum, and the investment pays for itself within a short time while process reliability is increased at the same time.
Field of Application
The systems can be realised from a filter capacity of 10 m³/h upwards for various electroplating surface processes such as copper, zinc and nickel baths. Filter systems of the ARF series are used primarily in production environments where the process bath must meet a high quality standard around the clock without interruption.
