Vertical immersion centrifugal pumps are immersed in the tank together with the pump and shaft, while the motor is mounted outside - space-saving and without suction-side piping. The VKTP series from VENTAIX in PP or PVDF delivers 5 to 450 m³/h at heads of up to 100 m; versions with a free-floating shaft are dry-run resistant.
Vertical Immersion Centrifugal Pumps: Maximum Efficiency for Demanding Applications
Vertical immersion centrifugal pumps are used in many industries both as process pumps and as wastewater pumps. Depending on the application, they are available in plastic or stainless steel. The plastic versions have no wetted metal surfaces and are therefore used in a wide range of wet chemical processes involving acids, alkalis and aqueous solutions.
Operating Principle of the Vertical Immersion Centrifugal Pump
In a vertical immersion centrifugal pump, the pump shaft is connected directly or by means of a coupling to the vertically arranged motor. The pump and pump shaft extend into the tank containing the medium, while the motor and mounting plate are fixed to the edge outside the tank. Vertical immersion centrifugal pumps are extremely space-saving, and suction-side piping is generally not required.
Materials
Depending on the application, all wetted components are manufactured from PP (polypropylene), PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) or stainless steel. The plastic versions have no wetted metal parts and are particularly suitable for aggressive, corrosive media. In the stainless steel version the wetted components are metallic – this version is preferred where higher mechanical loads or temperature resistance are required.
The pumps can be supplied in various sizes and designs; the length is determined individually for each application. Up to an immersion depth of 900 mm, our pumps are available with a free-floating shaft: the pump shaft is supported only by the motor, and the impeller at the end of the shaft is unsupported as well. This makes our vertical immersion pumps of this design dry-run resistant and virtually maintenance-free. Vertical centrifugal pumps with explosion protection in accordance with ATEX 94/9/EC are manufactured from conductive plastics.
