Rotary Vane Pumps (MDPG series)

Rotary vane pumps are positive displacement pumps that generate high discharge pressures even at low flow rates. The MDPG series from VENTAIX is magnetically coupled and therefore sealless - particularly suitable for hazardous, toxic or flammable chemicals. Available in PP, PVDF, stainless steel and Hastelloy, up to 25 bar system pressure and 160 °C.

Precise Transfer Processes in Industry

Rotary vane pumps belong to the group of positive displacement pumps. They generate high discharge pressures at low flow rates and are therefore suitable for precise transfer tasks. In combination with a frequency inverter, any required volume can be delivered. Thanks to the magnetic coupling, our magnetic rotary vane pumps of the MDPG series also have no mechanical shaft seal subject to wear, making them extremely low-maintenance.

Operating Principle of the Rotary Vane Pump

Rotary vane pumps have several vanes arranged on a rotor. As the pump shaft rotates, centrifugal force presses the vanes outwards against the casing, which is positioned eccentrically to the motor shaft. A volume is thus created between two vanes and moved from the suction port to the discharge port. This process is repeated continuously, producing a steady flow even at low speeds.

MDPG Series Rotary Vane Pump: Magnetically Coupled and Sealless

The rotary vane pumps of the MDPG series are characterised by a magnetic coupling – the same proven coupling technology as used in the magnetic coupled centrifugal pumps. As a result, no shaft passage with a mechanical seal is required, wear is reduced to a minimum and the pumps are virtually maintenance-free.

Materials

Our magnetic rotary vane pumps are available in plastic and stainless steel. Plastic versions are available in PP and PVDF: PP generally offers good resistance to a variety of media, while PVDF is used for more demanding requirements and temperatures up to 90 °C. For higher mechanical or thermal loads, rotary vane pumps in stainless steel are used – temperature-resistant up to 160 °C.

MDPG rotary vane pumps are used wherever corrosive, alkaline or toxic liquids have to be transferred precisely and safely:

  • Chemical industry: handling of aggressive chemicals such as acids, alkalis and solvents
  • Pharmaceutical industry: transferring, mixing and dosing viscous liquids, with virtually any volume when using a frequency inverter
  • Environmental protection: wastewater treatment and disposal of oils, oil-water mixtures or toxic effluents

What is the difference between a rotary vane pump and a centrifugal pump?

As a positive displacement pump, the rotary vane pump generates high discharge pressures even at low flow rates – a range in which a centrifugal pump would not operate efficiently in hydraulic terms.

Are rotary vane pumps leak-free?

Yes, the MDPG series uses the same magnetic coupling technology as the magnetic coupled centrifugal pumps and therefore requires neither a shaft passage nor a mechanical shaft seal.

Which media is the MDPG particularly suited to?
