Air Operated Diaphragm Pump MPFP1 for Environmental Remediation
The compact air operated diaphragm pump MPFP1 was developed specifically for 4" boreholes in environmental remediation. It pumps contaminated groundwater, recovers LNAPL and DNAPL and takes water samples for environmental monitoring - lightweight, robust and, on request, ATEX zone I/II compliant for potentially explosive contaminated sites.
Pumps for Effective Environmental Remediation and Groundwater Treatment
In order to remediate contaminated soil sustainably after environmental damage and to clean groundwater effectively, wells are drilled as part of the "pump and treat" process and polluted water is brought to the surface. There the water is treated by filtration and other processes and returned to the ecosystem in purified form.
Versatile Applications in Environmental Engineering
Our compact air operated diaphragm pump MPFP1, developed for 4" boreholes, can be used to pump contaminated groundwater. Thanks to its low weight and robust design, the pump is ideal for mobile use at various and changing sites. The MPFP1 is used for:
- pumping groundwater for remediation purposes
- recovering contaminants such as LNAPL and DNAPL (light and dense non-aqueous phase liquids)
- taking water samples for environmental monitoring
Efficient Removal of Contaminants
Cleaning groundwater contaminated by hydrocarbons (PFAS) or chlorinated solvents presents a particular challenge. LNAPL (light non-aqueous phase liquids), such as mineral oil products, float on the groundwater and do not dissolve in water. DNAPL (dense non-aqueous phase liquids), such as solvents, sink into deeper layers of the water due to their higher density.
The MPFP1 makes it possible to recover both types of contaminant selectively and remove them from the subsurface, considerably simplifying the remediation of contaminated sites. For use in potentially explosive zones, which frequently occur at industrial contaminated sites, the pump is ATEX compliant and available for ATEX zone I and ATEX zone II.
Complete Mobile Solution on a Hand Cart
The MPFP1 is also available as a complete mobile solution on a hand cart – including a hose reel and a battery-powered compressor. This allows the pump to be transported directly to the respective remediation site and put into operation there, without a fixed mains connection and without a separate compressed air supply.

Frequently Asked Questions about the MPFP1
What borehole size is the MPFP1 designed for?
For boreholes from 4 inches in diameter – its low weight and robust design also make it suitable for mobile use at changing sites.
Can the MPFP1 handle both LNAPL and DNAPL?
Yes, the pump can specifically recover both types of contaminant – light, floating and dense, sinking non-aqueous phase liquids – and remove them from the subsurface.
Is the MPFP1 suitable for potentially explosive contaminated sites?
Yes, it is ATEX compliant and available for zones I and II.
Is the MPFP1 also available as a complete mobile system?
Yes, the MPFP1 is also available on a hand cart with a hose reel and a battery-powered compressor – for independent, mobile use without a mains connection or separate compressed air supply.
