pump with impeller

Impeller Pumps (IPLEP series)

Impeller pumps are positive displacement pumps with an elastomer impeller that handles liquids gently but at high pressure. The IPLEP pumps from VENTAIX in stainless steel are dry self-priming from depths of up to 3 m, dry-run safe and cover a range from 0.18 to 43.8 m³/h - ideal for food, pharmaceutical and viscous chemical products.

Impeller Pumps - Powerful Handling Technology for a Wide Range of Applications

Impeller pumps are special positive displacement pumps which, thanks to their high efficiency and versatile applications, are indispensable in a wide range of industries. Whether handling water, viscous liquids or sensitive media, our high-quality IPLEP impeller pumps in stainless steel offer maximum reliability and performance.

Funktionsprinzip einer Impellerpumpe

Impeller pumps are positive displacement pumps in which liquids are delivered by a rotor consisting of several vanes. This rotor is generally referred to as the impeller and is made from a soft elastomer that runs along the inner surface of the pump casing. The pump casing is positioned eccentrically to the motor axis, while the impeller is round and sits centrally on the motor shaft. As it rotates, the enclosed volume is carried from the inlet to the outlet; the deformation of the flexible vanes reduces the enclosed volume and thus increases the pressure at the outlet.

Materials of the IPLEP Impeller Pumps

Our IPLEP impeller pumps have a robust, corrosion-resistant stainless steel casing. The impellers are made from various elastomers to suit the application and the medium:

  • NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber): resistant to oils and greases
  • EPDM (ethylene propylene diene rubber): good chemical resistance to a variety of media
  • NR (natural rubber): high elasticity and abrasion resistance, for abrasive and viscous media
  • VMQ (silicone rubber): excellent temperature resistance and flexibility

Configurable for the Most Varied Applications

For the most varied applications, our impeller pumps of the IPLEP series can be supplied with different impeller materials and shaft seals as well as in a wide range of motor versions. All common connection variants are available as well.

Fields of Application for Impeller Pumps

Impeller pumps generally run at low speed and are therefore excellently suited to handling sensitive media:

  • Food and beverage industry: handling of milk, yoghurt, juice, beer, syrup and other viscous foods
  • Pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry: pumping of liquid soaps, creams, shampoo, waxes and other sensitive products
  • Chemical and industrial applications: handling of paints, glues, oils, fertilisers and chemical liquids
  • Water and wastewater technology: handling of water, effluents, pool or pond contents containing solids

Frequently Asked Questions about Impeller Pumps

Are impeller pumps dry-run safe?

Yes, the IPLEP pumps are dry self-priming and can draw liquids from depths of up to 3 metres on their own.

Which media are impeller pumps particularly suited to?

Sensitive, viscous media that have to be handled gently, without high shear forces – for example in the food, pharmaceutical or cosmetics industries.

Which impeller materials are available?

NBR, EPDM, NR and VMQ – depending on the chemical resistance, temperature requirement and abrasion resistance your application calls for.
